IN NATURE, THE INSTINCT TO POINT OR "SET" IS A SUDDEN NATURAL PAUSE MADE BY A PREDATOR, SO AS NOT TO CAUSE HIS QUARRY TO BECOME AWARE OF HIS PRESENCE; ANY MOVEMENT BY THE PREY WILL MOST LIKELY CAUSE THE QUARRY TO FLEE. THE STALKER DOES NOT WANT THE QUARRY TO REALIZE THAT HE IS ABOUT TO ATTACK. ANY MOVEMENT BY THE QUARRY CAN CAUSE THE PREDATOR TO BREAK HIS POINT AND IMMEDIATELY TRY TO CATCH HIS PREY. A GOOD POINTING DOG WILL BEGIN TO EXHIBIT THIS TRAIT AS EARLY AS 5 WEEKS OF AGE. AT TREBORWOLF KENNEL, WHOLE LITTERS OF DRAHTHAARS PUPS HAVE HELD POINT AT 5 WEEKS OF AGE. MOST OF THESE PUPS ARE ALSO INTENSE!
